Do You Smell Odors Around Your Commercial Space? Act Fast

by Jeanne Cunningham

If you own a commercial property and you fear that you smell sewage and waste around the exterior of the building, you need to call a septic service right away. There could be terrible consequences if you do have a septic problem, especially if you let the problem continue.

Have some septic experts, like Southern Sanitary Systems Inc, come to the property to give you a quote for the inspection, pumping, and cleaning of the tank. Here are a few things to ask the experts about and to have done right away.

Soil Contamination

You'll need to ask if the soil around the tank is contaminated. If so, it may be difficult to get rid of the odors around the building, and it could be dangerous to breathe the air. You may need to call the health department. If there is a leak in the system, you'll want to have the ground treated to prevent further contamination to the groundwater.

Pipe and Tank Cleaning

Ask to have the pipes leading out to the tank cleaned to see if the tank is just overflowing. While it's clean, the septic experts can run a camera throughout the tank to see if there are damages causing the leaks, cracks, or other issues that need repaired to make the septic tank functional again.

Better Products for the System

The toilet paper that you use in the office, the types of toilets you have, and the amount of attention you pay to the septic system will all affect how the system works. Make sure you go down to single-ply toilet paper or a paper that is designed to be gentle on septic systems. If your employees aren't a fan of single-ply, you can get some safe double-ply paper as long as it isn't infused with dyes or lotion. Lotions and dyes don't decompose as quickly. If your toilets flush and use an unnecessary amount of water, get efficient toilets that only use a minimal amount. These low-flush toilets aren't just great for your septic tank, they are great for your budget and the environment. Lastly, there are even tablets and cleansers you can flush to break down sludge in the system if you cannot afford new plumbing fixtures.

You can't have people walking up to your commercial property and getting whiffs of raw sewage, and you need to protect the building and the property around it. Talk with the septic experts to find out what you need to do to get the issue resolved as quickly as possible and what you can do to make sure that the problem doesn't happen again.

A Guide to Buying a Water Heater

I was surprised how many decisions needed to be made when purchasing a water heater. You need to decide whether you want a traditional tank heater or a tankless water heater. You need to determine what sized water heater you need based on the size of your bathtubs, water appliances, how long you like to shower and the number of people living in your home. And you need to determine what brand of water heater makes the most sense for your budget and needs. I was floored with all the decisions I needed to make and being uneducated made me worry about picking the wrong water heater. I started this website because I want people who are looking to buy a water heater to go into a store educated on what water heater is best for them. I hope you find my site beneficial.
